We have no comments about the game tonight.

Well, okay, we do.

1) Hope Gorges is okay.

2) SIGN PLEKY ALREADY. DO IT NOW.

3) that "offside" goal wasn't offside because the Caps put it into their own zone. Not offside.

4) that should have been a goal for Ovie. Period. The puck went off of Gill. It was a goal. This crap rule where you can call players for interference, waive off the goal and then not give them a penalty, is crap. Not to mention the refs NEVER explained why the hell they waived the goal off after calling it a goal originally.

5) What happened to Neuvy? And while we're on the topic of goalies.... I dont' want to hear a word any ANY of the goalies. Not, about Neuvy unless you're going to tell me what happened to him, not about Price, not about Jose, Jaro or Simmy the Twitching Goalie. Dont' want to hear whining and complaining about the goalies.

6) REF YOU SUCK BIG TIME. All around, the reffing was BRUTAL. No many no-calls and sh!t calls... horrible....

7) hey, I'm watching the Oilers/Ducks game and I keep calling Bobby Ryan "Blobby". Anyone know why I'm calling him this? Because I have NO idea why and yet every time I hear his name I call him "Blobby Ryan". Bizarre. Also, the Ducks goal horn sounds like a dying animal....

The reason that wasn't a goal was because you can't just plough into a player and throw him into the goaltender to score a goal. If that were legal, all those Sean Avery-types would be doing it daily. Boudreau knows the rules. He's just better at bitching about everything.

If it were a Habs player knocking Gill into Price, there would have been no questioning the goal. Frankly Ovie should have been called for charging.

The Caps should know. They got screwed because the ref didn't see the Flyers player throw a defenceman into Huet during the playoffs which knocked him out of the way so they could score. This time everyone saw it.

As for waiving it off and then not calling a penalty, the problem is while video review is fine for the purpose of deciding whether a goal is a goal, it can't be used to decide whether or not to call a penalty--it'd be a slippery slope. Did they go upstairs to video or was it only the refs' conference?

I'm glad Gorges is (apparently) ok. That was seriously scary...

I'm not sure about the Ovie goal. It doesn't look like a good goal to me, for the reasons stated by Number31. That being said, it's pretty impressive to be able to push Hal Gill like that into his own net... O-o

Ovid hit Hal Gill who isn't Gio sized and he knocked over Price. Ovie wasn't bowling for goalies. He hit Gill. The puck went off of Gill and into the net. If they thought what Ovie did was wrong, they should have called a penalty on it and not initially ruled it a goal. They didn't go upstairs. It's happened to the Hans before where a goal was waived off for interferance but no penalty was called. Every time that's happened, I've questioned the rule that says you can get a goal waived off, but not get a penalty.

Re: Flyers game winner: I seem remember they later said that what the Flyers did was legal.

Also, I like Anaheim's "dying animal" horn. :)

So... congrats, I guess. When I told you I hoped the Habs played well I did say "but lose"! Did you forget to deliver that part of the message to them?

It was great while it lasted. If anyone had told me the Caps would be first in the conference by 14 points at any time in the season, I'd have thought they were nuts. Picking up 29 points out of a possible 30? No complaints here! Besides, this means they can get Varlamov some work before the break (if they were going for the NHL record, he would sit because he's so rusty - now they can experiment.)

I'd sure like to hear the NHL explanation on the Ovie non-goal but frankly if the Caps hadn't played so crappy (crappily? craprageously? craptastically?) in the second period, it wouldn't have mattered. Exceedingly entertaining 3rd period though!

Grrrreg - It's weiiiiiiiird. I'd take San Jose's tugboat/foghorn one over Anaheim's dying whale one :D

Dave - it's been a fantastic run. Horrible second period from the Caps, great one for the Habs (it was nice to see that they were alive. I was worried after their snoozefest versus the Booins the other day). I was totally not surprised at all that the Caps came back in the third. They were going to do it. Now it's time to go beat the Sens! SMASH THOSE SENS.
