Enough with the Price vs Halak stuff

Sunday, January 10, 2010

If there is one thing that has been driving me absolutely up the wall these days, it's this Price vs Halak "arguments". I often see people blindly complaining or bashing one goalie while holding up the other as kind of saint. Quite honestly, it's stupid and I'm getting very tired of it.

I don't know when or why the fans divided themselves into Team Price and Team Halak. You don't have to like both goalies (personally, I like both of them a lot), but I dont' see any reason for people to mindlessly bash the other one. It's one thing to say that Halak is playing great. That's perfectly fine and true. But to call Price an AHL goalie in the same sentence is ridiculous. Price may not be playing up to the incredibly high standards that everyone has set for him, but he is not an AHL goalie.

Montreal is blessed to have two goalies who have been playing pretty solid hockey on most nights. Heck, on most nights the goalies have been the only ones to show up to a game and gave their team every chance to win. There's a lot of teams that can't say the same about their goalies. Ask the Flyers or the Leafs (particularly when Toskala is in nets). We should be happy to have two solid guys between the pipes instead of sitting here ripping one or the other on a nightly basis.

The goalies are the only ones that show up every night. Like I wrote on my thing about the Devils game: either the offense is dead which gives our goalies no comfort zone and a tiny margin of error, or the defense is dead which exposes them to a shooting gallery or backdoor plays (that you can't really do much about since no one has eyes in the back of their head). Never mind they tip more goals into their own net than score grr! I just don't like Jaro's loudmouth agent saying "trade trade trade~" or jabbing at Price like a forum troll.

And then the idiots go "Jaro gets the wins". Poor Price stands on his head for this team and they rarely give him any support for a win, especially since he plays all the above .500 teams... Even my mom is pissed off at the Habs for doing that to him.

^ agreed on all accounts.

The amount of Price hate is unbelievable right now. And there's absolutely no validity to it. That idiot on Team990 saying Price belonged in the AHL had me almost ripping my ears off.

For the most part if you're going to blame someone for the loss, blame the guys in front of the goalies.

Why can't people appreciate both goalies? Even if you liked one over the other that's fine, but don't go saying the other one you don't like belongs in the ECHL for god's sake....

Yay! I approve of everything you've said there! I'm glad someone says it. (Although I guess the Hammies wouldn't mind having Price either :P)

The Hammies would be totally invincible if they had Price. Hey, they did win their one and only Calder Cup with him.... ohhhhhh *day dreams for a second about a second Calder Cup with Pricey winning the whole damn thing with them* Ahem. No, he belongs in the NHL damnit! =p
